Ah, the observation of the eclipse leads me to conclude The Fur Country? It would be consistent with the cold environment in the other drawings and the flag in the first could be the old Canadian flag before Canada became independent (which featured the Union Jack in the corner, although that isn't quite clear in the drawing, but the lack of stars in the corner rules out the American flag I think).

Ah, the observation of the eclipse leads me to conclude The Fur Country? Yep. No doubt about it now, that bunch observing an eclipse has to be The Fur Country. Great Vernian scene, too, the shock when the eclipse doesn't go as expected. Poor Thomas Black, he was so invested in the observation.

Ok, I have selected a new Verne novel. The rng gave me Lighthouse at the End of the World again so I ran it once more and got Around the World in 80 Days! However, on the third attempt, I got a novel we have not picked yet. I'm going to go with Captain Antifer. The monkeys in the third picture gave me Village in the Treetops vibes, but the other pictures and the number of characters in the third one don't seem to point that way. Because of the turbans, I thought of Keraban the Inflexible too, but this doesn't seem right, taking all the pictures into account. So yeah, I'll go with Antifer. I don't quite remember that scene with the monkeys, but it all sounds plausible for that book. Is it Antifer?

I don't remember that exact scene either which is partially why I threw it in there.

hmmm, the clothing worn and the final image makes me think of Invasion of the Sea, so I'm going to go with that.

Hm, ok last guess before I allow someone else to guess. The clothing and scenes could fit with Keraban the Inflexible?

Ok, I have selected three photos... The first two pictures don't tell me much, but the third one does. There are very few Verne novels with a submarine... I can think of the two with Nemo, Master of the World and Facing the Flag. Knowing that, the first two pictures now tell me something, because they seem to fit Facing the Flag better than the others. So I'm going with Facing the Flag.

Oh well.

Yes, it is Facing the Flag. Another lesser known one (as evidenced by the list you posted in another thread) so I thought the submarine might not give it away. Oh well. An enjoyable novel, pretty much a techno-thriller, with a very James-Bond-style villain (of course, Verne had several of those megalomaniac villains). But most of this one takes place inside the villain's lair. I wouldn't be surprised if this book was among Ian Fleming's influences. Anyway, it's easier when there's something quite distinctive in the pictures. When it's very generic it's more difficult. I'll post another one tomorrow, unless someone wants to step in.
