I'd like to propose a game... I'll post a few illustrations from one of Verne's books, chosen randomly, and you have to guess the book. If no one does, I'll post more illustrations until someone does. Once the book is guessed, I'll move on to a different book. Please, no cheating by searching for the images. Just look at them and try to guess... As help for those choosing books, the books already done, following the order in en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voyages_extraordinaires , are: 1, 2, 5, 10, 11, 12, 15, 18, 19, 24, 28, 30, 34, 36, 39, 40, 42, 46, 47, 49, 50, 53, 55, 58, 60, 61 I'll start: ,

Ooh! This seems fun. I'll post some illustrations tomorrow or maybe the day after.
As for these... I'm going to guess (in descending order):
1. In Search of the Castaways (I'm probably wrong but I am having trouble with this one) 2. 20,000 Leagues under the sea 3. The Mysterious Island

(Remember that I chose a random book among the 62 extraordinary voyage novels, using a random number generator between 1 and 62. It's not necessarily a very well-known one). Also, I have avoided images that very, very blatantly reveal the book.... As a clue, get an extra image from the same book as a reward for your effort...

(Avoiding quoting you so that the images don't take up tons of space)
You did an excellent job... these are hard! I was so sure that was the Nautilus in the background of the second image. Ok, I'll try again:
1. Off on a Comet 2. Journey to the Centre of the Earth 3. Purchase of the North Pole (the man with the walking stick could be Barbicane?)

Correct! You can have a go if you want. If not, I'll post images from a new book tomorrow.

I thought so! What made me put that was the child. I knew there were children in that one and I couldn't think of any other story where they'd be staring at the sky with a child hanging around. I will give others a chance with the remaining two as I've already had two guesses. I do have an idea for the third one but the second is extremely puzzling! Journey to the Centre of the Earth was a desperation guess.

Journey to the Centre of the Earth was a desperation guess. Ah, no, sorry, I think I didn't explain myself well... All the images I have posted are from the same book, Off on a Comet. I thought you were having three tries because you were unsure. It's better to keep it to one book at a time, otherwise it will get confusing. As I said, if you want you can have a go at posting images of a book and challenging the rest of us. If you prefer not to, I'll post images of a different book tomorrow. Yes, there's a child in this one, although not a main character. In the images you could also see sailing, ice, looking at astronomical bodies, and unusual behavior of birds.

It's been a very long time since I read Off on a Comet and I genuinely don't remember when they were on a ship.

Yes, they spend quite a lot of time on a ship, exploring the new world formed on the comet, before things start cooling down.

Ok, I have done the same method. I've used a random number generator to select a Verne novel at random. I was actually quite surprised how easy it was to find three illustrations! Of course, as farseer said, please no cheating by searching for the images. Just look at them and try to guess...
Edit: You may want to click on them as they will appear bigger, not sure why I couldn't make them bigger on the thread.

Hmmm... I think I know this one. The third image doesn't tell me much. It seems waves violently breaking on a rocky shore. The first image, though, is very helpful. There's a wrecked ship... and people savaging stuff from it (not The Survivors of the Chancellor, then). Knowing there's a shipwreck, that second picture, that larger than life character posing, might be Kaw-djer?
I'll say the Survivors of the Jonathan.

However, I will tell you that given one of our conversations on a different thread, I think that you do know this one.

Hmm... OK, I have my theories, but I will refrain for the moment and give other people a chance to guess.
