I was very disappointed with the public domain versions available of The Children of Captain Grant, so I decided to make my own. This is a complete, unabridged version of the story which is freely available to anyone under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. (Basically, you are free to copy, modify, or redistribute this version, as long as you give proper credit, and indicate if any changes have been made, and don't charge for it.) It is available in HTML, ePub, and PDF formats at thecatacombs.ca/JulesVerne/index.html. These versions also contain the Riou images from the original Hetzel editions, and maps created by me. I have also created ePubs of the F.P.Walter Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, and the Stanley Kravitz The Mysterious Island, complete with the Hetzel illustrations, and maps created by me.

Wow, this is amazing! Thanks so much for all your hard work on this. The fact that it's complete and has all the original illustrations and new maps is just awesome.
I also love that you've done the same for "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas" and "The Mysterious Island." Those are two of my all-time favorites, and having them in such a high-quality format is fantastic.
Do you have plans for any other Jules Verne books in the future?

This is great work. How bad some of the old English translations are is a real problem. I read Verne in Spanish, so it doesn't personally affect me, but it's a pity that English readers sometimes have it difficult to find a good translation of such an important writer.

I’m from Hungary, and we also had some translation problems due to communism. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was common to delete phrases related to God and references to the Western world, so Verne's books were heavily altered. Personally, it didn’t affect me because I was not born in that era.
